Has (the) Majorana really returned ?
Abstract
I will address and answer the question posed in the title of the talk (as well as explain the significance and the meaning of the question itself) by discussing the most recent experimental and theoretical developments in the possible emergence of bound Majorana states in semiconductor structures in proximity to ordinary superconductors. In particular, I will provide a critical theoretical analysis of the existing experimental data in the subject, and point out future directions necessary for the decisive laboratory control of non-Abelian Majorana particles. The latest theory papers of the author on this subject (as well as other subjects) can all be found at www.physics.umd.edu/cmtc.
